    Sunspots

    Alberti R (c)

Why do we not see any sunspots form nearer to the south or north pole of the sun?

    Re: Sunspots

     Hello Alberti,

You've asked a very good question.  Sunspots are not found closer to the poles because of the way that plasma flows from the equator of the Sun to the poles.  Not enough magnetic field can collect to form sunspots at those higher latitudes.
